Working with leaders in the entertainment industry since 1996
With thirty years training and experience in mime, theatre, film, and television, Lorin Eric Salm brings unique skills to his work as a movement coach, mime instructor, and actor. Since 1996, Lorin has been working with leaders in the entertainment industry to enhance the performance of live actors and animated characters by maximizing the impact of their expressive movement.
A native of Los Angeles, Lorin spent three years in Paris, France, training with the world-renowned master of mime Marcel Marceau, as well as former assistants of Etienne Decroux, the creator of Corporeal Mime. His training there was complemented by studies in acting, Commedia dell’Arte, ballet, modern dance, acrobatics, and fencing.
As a performer, Lorin has appeared in feature films, on television, in national and foreign commercials, and in live performances from Paris and Israel to New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. (You might have seen him in the recent Geico Renters Insurance commercial as the mime roommate Jean-Pierre.) He also works as a motion capture or character reference actor for animated projects, including the popular children’s television series Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. Lorin often appears on camera in film and television productions for which he coaches.
Lorin’s innovative approach to character movement has garnered him the opportunity to work with major Hollywood productions and star-name talent, the world-class artists of Cirque du Soleil, and the industry’s top animation studios, including Disney, DreamWorks, and Sony.
In 2001, Lorin founded Mime Theatre Studio, the only school in Los Angeles offering year-round mime classes and workshops. He teaches there regularly, alongside his other teaching and performing work.
